At AURA Fine Gems, we are always striving to promote a sustainable approach to jewelry.
We are committed to keeping a small environmental footprint and this starts with having all of our pieces handmade locally in Los Angeles by skilled craftsmen instead of overseas.
Our packaging is also all handmade in Los Angeles by a small family-owned business that has been operating since 1971. They utilize sustainable raw materials and environmentally-safe glues for the boxes to protect the environment, their employees and our customers.
In terms of the materials we use, we work with a very small group of gem dealers that have a great reputation in the industry and who we fully trust to present us only with responsibly-sourced gemstones. These gem dealers work directly with the miners and can attest to their ethical and fair practices. For diamonds, we only use certified conflict-free stones from suppliers who abide by the Kimberley Process. We also try to use recycled gold whenever possible.
Being a female-owned business, female empowerment is at the heart of AURA's brand vision. Laura Gallon, the founder and designer, is on the board of the Women's Jewelry Association (Los Angeles chapter) where they connect women in the industry and organize events to help them develop professionally. She is also a member of the GIA Alumni Association, the American Gem Society (AGS) and the American Gem Trade Association (AGTA).
Finally, with a goal to bring transparency and education to the purchasing process, Laura creates gemstone education videos every month that can be found on our Instagram page and on our YouTube channel.
